Enthusiast Club Fall Newsletter 2025
Dear Enthusiast,
Work continues in our cellar as we dig out of the avalanche of delicious grapes that poured into the winery over the last 7 weeks. The first grapes were crushed September 7th and the last October 24th. Our team is tired, grape-stained, and happy. The 2025 vintage began with an early spring, continued into a warm-steady summer, all leading to an early harvest. Bottom line, everything had a chance to fully ripen before the weather made picking miserable!
Preseason predictions forecasted lower-than-average yields due to cold temperatures last winter. Fortunately, our vineyards recovered better than initially thought and almost every block we work with yielded average to slightly above average. We will take it! After navigating low yielding years resulting in a lean cellar, we prefer to have a cellar full of gorgeous wines.
Awards? You might enjoy learning that some of your favorite or soon-to-be favorite wines are now wearing bling! Our current collection of available wines has already earned unprecedented acclaim. Competitions remain a vital tool for wineries to gain recognition for wines, free of the biases of critics who often score and write reviews while staring at the labels. In wine competitions, wines are evaluated “blind,” meaning judges are unaware of any external factors like a winery’s celebrity status, advertising budget, production size, or geographic location. Judges have preferences that might differ from you and me, but generally we trust that gold medal winning wines are considered great by most people.
Team Clearwater Canyon was hailed one of the top producers at the last three competitions we entered, bringing home gold to many of our current releases. No winery won more gold than Clearwater Canyon at The Great Northwest Invitational and our new 2023 Estate Syrah earned Best Syrah! See our website for full list of accolades.
