Spring Release Newsletter 2025
Enthusiast Club Spring Release

Leaves are emerging from fuzzy buds on our Umiker Estate vines, bringing us hope of another bountiful harvest of homegrown grapes. In recent years we’ve been riding a tide of charmed conditions from vineyard to bottle. The cold snap last year and resulting loss of fruit reminds us of the fragility of what we do. Winemaking is controlled chaos; we try to keep step with Mother Nature in her ever changing dance from vintage to vintage. We are grateful for the beautiful wines we currently have in our cellar and will never again take for granted the magic of picking our estate fruit with our team and family.
This Spring Release is composed of four reds (Renaissance Red, Carmenère, Louis Delsol Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec) from the idyllic 2023 vintage. It was a rare growing season where Mother Nature lobbed perfect pitches instead of curveballs. Plenty of summer heat delivered a slightly early harvest that steadily progressed, allowing all the grapes to stream into the winery before freezing temps became a factor.
This release also includes the long awaited 2022 Selway! If you’ve tasted previous vintages (‘08, ‘10, ‘12, ‘13, ‘14, ‘17, ‘18, ‘19) then you understand the cult following for this wine. This is the 9th release of Selway in 21 years of winemaking and delivers that sought after complexity that only develops with extended (30 months) barrel aging of particular wines.
The whites (Albariño and Pinot gris) and Rosé of Cabernet franc in this release are all 2024 and Crawford Vineyard. While our Umiker Estate Lochsa Chardonnay was regrowing last year, we decided to invite a new grape into our cellar, Pinot gris! The PG block is directly across from our Albariño, so we’ve tasted and observed it for years and often talked about trying to find room for it! We hope you enjoy sipping our first Pinot gris as much as we do!
Well, now it is up to you! These bottles are waiting to join you and add a little extra deliciousness to your life!
Thank you for enjoying the wines we work so hard to produce,

Clearwater Canyon Cellars in Boise!
We will be in Boise to pour at multiple events June 5th – 8th.
Our first stop will be at the wine shop ‘House of Wine’ on Main Street, during the “First Thursday Downtown” on June 5th from 5-8pm. We will be pouring an exclusive showcasing of three of our wines! House of Wine is owned by Kat House McClaskey, who is working on obtaining the prestigious wine title of ‘Master of Wine’, and also is a graduate school colleague of Coco’s. Go Cougs!
Friday, June 6th, we’ll be taking over the tasting room at Telaya Wine Co., as well as hosting a winemaker pairing dinner that evening. This “tasting room takeover” will be reciprocated with a Winemaker’s Dinner, featuring Telaya’s wines, at Jollymore’s restaurant in Lewiston later this summer. Stay tuned for those details!
Savor Idaho is back again this year, taking place at the Idaho Botanical Garden on Sunday, June 8th. Clearwater Canyon Cellars will be one of 30 Idaho wineries and cideries pouring at the event.
