Lewis-Clark Valley AVA Designation

It is official! The valley we call home is now an American Viticultural Area (AVA)!  The Lewis-Clark Valley AVA was approved by the Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) on April 20, 2016, just in time for the AVA Launch event.  From this point forward, wines produced from grapes GROWN within the boundary of the Lewis-Clark Valley AVA will be adorned with the words ‘Lewis-Clark Valley’ on the label. Join us for a “Taste of Peru”!  Chef Gustavo Ramirez of Happy Day Catering will be pairing five delectable courses with our wines. Chef Gustavo moved here eight years ago from Peru and will sharing the cuisines of his home country with our valley for the first time on May 21. We will be holding this amazing dinner at Clarkston Event Center at 6pm. Tickets are $100 (plus taxes) per person and can be purchased by calling Happy Day Catering at (208) 743-0179.

Located on the Middle Fork of the Clearwater River, River Dance Lodge is the ultimate outdoor enthusiasts’ getaway on the Lewis-Clark Trail.  Their onsite restaurant, Syringa Café will be serving up two nights of wine-paired dinners as part of a two-night weekend package. We will be participating in the annual Love Your Farmer-Love Your Food Event this Thursday, January 28 from 5:30-8pm at the 1912 Center at 412 East Third Street in Moscow.  This free event is hosted by the Moscow Food Co-Op and will feature local producers.  There will be a panel discussion from 6-7:30pm and Coco will one of the panelists.  Other featured panelists will include Palouse Prairie Kobe of Tekoa, Washington; Little Bear Dairy of Troy; River City Farm of Lewiston and Swallowtail Flowers of Moscow. Our 2013 Phinny Hill Carmenérè came in at No. 45 and was the highest rated Carmenérè in the Northwest this year!  This wine also received a coveted Platinum Award by Wine Press Northwest and placed No. 46 on the Seattle Times ‘Top 50 Wines of 2015’.  This was the third year in a row our Carmenérè has taken home a Platinum and ‘Top 100’ rating and second year it has been on the Seattle Times ‘Top 50’.  We blended in 11% Malbec from Verhey Vineyard in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA, rounding out the mouth feel with chewy tannins, cinnamon spice,…

‘Platinum’ and ‘Double Gold’ @ Wine Press Northwest Platinum Judging!

  2011 Phinny Hill Vineyard Carmenère won ‘Platinum’! 2010 Selway won ‘Double Gold’! This is a best of the best judging. Only gold medal winning wines from specific international, national, and regional wine competitions and Wine Press Northwest’s own peer-group blind judgings are eligible to enter the Platinum Competition. This year 634 gold medal winning wines were judged for platinum status and only 151 made Platinum and about 250 were awarded ‘Double Gold’. Great Northwest Wine 5,000+ wines from across Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and British Columbia this year as part of the many wine competitions they organize across the Pacific Northwest.
